Changes to the laws on Intellectual Property Rights are being covered in the BBC radio programme Law in Action. This of course includes the outcomes and reactions to the Gowers report.
High on the agenda are Musicians and Photographers, as it is their works that are most popularly shared between many sources. As the programme says, the genie is well and truly out of the bottle since the onset of the internet era and we must now work with it to our benefit.
The show looks at how legislation needs to catch up with the real world, and how authors and creators need to adapt to the exploitation of their work.
Its a tricky act to achieve. PRODIG contributor Ian Reynolds is featured in the show, illustrating the problems of trying to make a living from the work he creates whilst it is being freely shared on MySpace.
