Nikon launch D5000

Nikon have announced the new D5000.
The D5000 has inherited the D90’s HD movie capability with Nikon’s proprietary D-Movie function enabling high-definition movie capture. Coupled with extensive in-camera editing features, a wide choice of scene modes, 12.3MP sensor and high-sensitivity between ISO 200 and 3200 (which can be extended to ISO 100 and ISO 6400 equivalent). It also includes a 2.7-inch vari-angle LCD monitor.
Its due for release on 1 May, priced at £720 body only or at £800 with the 18-55mm VR lens.

A short movie filmed on the D5000 by one of the attendees at the London Nikon launch. In common with other similar systems there is no auto-focus in video mode.
