PRESS RELEASE
Rhubarb-Rhubarb Announces “Photography Is Dead…”
2009 sees Birmingham-based creative development agency Rhubarb-Rhubarb mark it’s tenth year of hosting the UK’s International Photographic Review. Now known as Europe’s premiere review for photographers, this year’s event will attract 50 curators, collectors, gallerists, agents and picture editors who will give advice and opportunities for exhibiting, publishing and selling, to over 100 image makers from around the world.Bookings are open and photographers can book their reviewers online for the Portfolio Event on 31st July, 1st, 2nd August 2009. It’s already selling out fast so places are limited.
Lorna-Mary Webb, Company Manager, says: “At a time when some say photography is becoming a communication system of pixels and data transfer, we thought this was a timely subject for the beginning of our tenth year of the Review. There is no denying that in this last decade the photography industry has changed hugely, with some embracing the technological future and others wanting to ignore it. Just what is the impact of progress on the working practices of existing and emerging photographic artists? What will photography look like in ten years’ time? These are some of the issues we want to explore in 2009. Our radical title for the International Review is intended to stimulate and challenge how we see, use, react and interact with images and technologies.”
This year’s reviewers join us from across the globe – Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Sweden and the US among others, as well as the UK.
International reviewers include:
Alasdair Foster – Director of the Australian Centre of Photography
Stephen Mayes – CEO of VII Photo Agency, New York
